Hello everyone! We have some good news to share - three of them, in fact. Who doesn't like good news? :D WEEKLY SALES! Here's one: if you've seen our Facebook, you will know that we have started our Weekly Sales on our site at Dreams Avenue! Good news for our friends and customers, if you've been thinking about some products in our range! Every week, we will feature approximately 8 different products up for grabs, up to 20% Discount! For first time customers, you still have another 10% Discount off your entire purchase (remember to use discount code DAWY2014 upon checkout)! This week, our sale items feature lovely products that remind you of sunshine and smiles - all in hues of orange and yellow! Certainly a great way to welcome Spring! Click on SHOP on our top navigation bar, or go to our site www.dreamsavenue.com.sg or directly to our sales page http://dreamsavenue.com.sg/8-sale to check it out! WE'VE BEEN FEATURED! Yessss! We've had our very first feature! Woo hoo! Thanks to Honey Kids Asia, we've had our very first feature right here! Below is the small but very encouraging snippet about us in their feature of "You've Got Style, Kid!" : As there are tons of online shops in this competitive business, this means a great deal, and we are happy to be chosen as one of the "12 fabulous online shopping for kids sites that waive delivery costs in sunny Singers". We will continue to do our best and hope for your continued support! Last, but certainly not least.... (and on a more personal note) ... WE ARE EXPECTING! We are expecting another baby, and are super excited about it! AND.. it's ... ONE MORE FOR THE PINK TEAM! Besides all the preparations and getting ready for our coming addition to our family, we are also getting Naomi ready to be a big sister. Yes, it's a big deal, when our munchkin can't be carried as much by Mummy anymore, and telling her she has to be a good example for the little one, and getting less attention from us. She has had some tantrum days, and I believe that this is also due to insecurity because of my pregnancy. But, we will slowly get there. Now, I'm involving her in all my gynae visits, and buying of baby items, folding of baby clothes etc. Soon, we have to shop for THE PRESENT, from the little one to her big sister. I do hope that these little things will ease her into her big sister role! Here's a self shot that I tried to take as inspiration from this lovely pin for pregnancy reveal: Of course, it's no where nearly as awesome as the original. Haha, it's even funny to look at, for me! But hey, this certainly makes a memory! Oh boy, was it hard to get her to stay still in that position since there's no cameraman and we had to wait for the camera to click and all! It was fun, nevertheless, and these little things I get to do and the time I have alone with her now, I will certainly miss it when the 2nd one comes along. But we will probably have more fun times ahead with another girl in tow! Here's another fun shot of her only child expiry: one that she pretends to be angry! Can you tell how she is actually having fun while pretending to be angry? Thanks for reading and sharing in the good news we have to share.
Till our next post! :) The year 2013 is almost at the end... and our favourite time of year has come! December - the month that symbolises Christmas, festive cheer, (school) holidays, snow, presents, gathering and so many good things. It's a time to reflect on the year that has past, to think of the future (especially in the coming year) and to make promises and resolutions to better oneself in the next year. Before the year ends, I will like to thank all my family and friends who have been supportive, understanding and forgiving. As I hit the big 30 this year, I have learnt that I can be a better person, mum, wife, daughter, friend and that I can improve and will strive to make little steps. So I hope 2014 will be kind to me and my family, and here's wishing all of you a great year ahead too! On a less formal note, we will be going to Moscow for our year end holidays! This is our daughter's 2nd trip to Russia, but it will be her first snow experience, and our family first snow experience together! Our relatives there can finally see the little munchkin again and we are so happy to be able to join them for Christmas this year - although in Russia, they (Orthodox Christians) celebrate Christmas on the 7th of January. We will be celebrating in on the 25th nevertheless, anyway! Now, we don't often go to cold countries and living in our tropical climate means next to zero winter wear. So we have been doing a little shopping for these all important items that will keep us from freezing our asses off or turning into ice cubes when we reach Moscow! Don't get me wrong, we are TOTALLY excited and looking forward to experience winter, have a snowy white Christmas, and make snowmen, maybe snow fights, dancing in snowflakes (if that's possible), make snow angels and so much more!!! (Note to self: make a list of things to do!) Yes, I also enjoy shopping for these items *sheepish* although I do frown upon the accumulated receipts of winter wear and the increasing $$ we spent on these products that will probably not be used for a long time... BUT! We will certainly make the most out of it! To prepare Naomi for the trip, we had a little fashion show at home with winter wear. So she can already be familiar with all the thick clothes and layering, long sleeves and scarves, gloves, ear muffs. Here's a few pics to share: Now, we are just left with winter boots! Will be heading out to buy a pair this week before we fly off to Moscow on midnight this coming Thursday! Well, of course, and packing. More about that next post. Naomi is still trying to figure out the difference between Winter, Russia and Christmas, and I think, she thinks all are synonymous, or at least very similar. So instead of saying that we will be going to Russia, she asks "Are we going to Christmas soon?" Of course, I've tried to explain to her the difference, but she's only just turned 3 so what can you expect? She still asks the same question but now I reply " Yes, we are going to Russia soon, and you will experience Winter there. That means it's going to be very cold and there will be snow... but you don't have to be in Russia for Christmas. Christmas can be celebrated everywhere." And the last time I said that, she replied in earnest: "Mama, Christmas is everywhere ? So I can open my presents now?" So I guess, now I have to bring out the calendar and teach her about dates as well. Kids learn too fast. Here's the tempting presents under our tiny tree we have at home: As our tree is so tiny, I think it makes the presents even more tempting! Yes, Naomi is also learning about patience and tolerance during this season :D (Although my hubby calls it torture! Haha)
Have you already done up your tree and done your Christmas shopping yet? Hope you and your family are already soaking up the wonderful atmosphere during this time! Till our next post! Hi everyone, Apologies for my late post for Fantasy Friday. We have been busy since the husband finally managed to return for the weekend, and we were busy getting things done since he's around! Pavel's working overseas most of the time and when he's back, both Naomi and me stick to him like glue. It's like Santa Claus coming to town, but without the presents (no, honey.. don't worry that's not a hint. :P ) and we're always sooo happy when he's around! For us, the phrase "absence makes the heart grow fonder" absolutely holds true. He's back to work since this morning though, so we are going to start missing him again :*( Back to our original intent of the post. So it's Fantasy "Friday" again! (Ok, so it's Monday, but let's not nitpick too much, ok? :P ) Last week, we featured Ariel as our fairytale inspiration and for this week, we will be doing a Snow White feature! Snow White has been one of the favourites of all Disney Princesses amongst little girls and the bold hues of red, blue and yellow are her signature colours. This colour combination may seem like too much contrast but if it works for Snow White, it can work for you and your kids too! Here's my take on a modern Snow White princess : Here's another for a casual take on the modern Snow White: For the everyday Princess, this casual one should be easier for Mummy and Daddy to replicate. If you want an outfit without a cardigan or jacket, simply switch out the yellow tee for a blue one! Here's one for Mummy too: If you ever have a fairytale themed/ Snow White birthday party to attend, you know what to wear now! :) All items featured in this post are not from Dreams Avenue and are put together using a site called Polyvore. You can check it out here or click on the images above to see where to get the above items if you like them!
As mentioned in my previous Fantasy Friday post, I have created outfits inspired by Ariel based on our stock from Dreams Avenue. The Lookbook is up here now but the products will be added later when I find some time to update our inventory. If you are interested in any of the pieces though, just drop me an email! This coming Friday, I will try a boy character for a change. Look forward to it! Till our next post! Hi everyone, As the title suggests, I will be doing a feature on parties, especially kids' birthday parties every Thursday. This has always been one of my favourite topics to read and search for online, and pin on Pinterest. This is even more pronounced as we inch closer to October, my daughter's birth month. My interest has inspired me to start this feature on this blog, where I will showcase a party every Thursday or what I am planning for her upcoming party and other party-related news! While planning for Naomi's first birthday more than 2 years ago, I stumbled upon this awesome blog called Kara's Party Ideas. From then, this has been the main site I go to for party inspiration besides the always dependable Pinterest for the plethora of pictures for dessert tables, party themes, cakes etc. I remember this post was the one that got me decided on doing a Sugar, Spice & Everything Nice theme. For the first year, we did go all out, hiring a caterer for food, professionals for the dessert table, a balloon sculptor to entertain the kids and even rented toys. Ouch. Yes, it burnt a hole in our pockets... but we really loved that party! This week, I will share what what we did for her Sugar & Spice Tea Party. Here are some photos: Dessert Table by Little House of Dreams. Invitation and background decor (not including balloons) by yours truly. Yes, I love DIY! There were some DIY elements in this party like the digital invitation, pompoms and ribbon garland as shown above. I also did a "Happy Birthday" banner for this party which was re-cycled for her 2nd Birthday, a blue Pirate themed party! This, I will share next Thursday. Here's a peek at our little one when she was one! Naomi having fun in the ball pit! Naomi's adorable birthday outfit! In keeping with the colours of our theme, she wears a pink sleeveless ruffled top and a blue floral bubble skirt which was bought from Gingersnaps. Yes, we adore her. Can you tell? Hee. Naomi, if you ever read this in the future, know that Mama and Papa loves you so very much!
We hope you like her party as much as we did! If you have a party you want to share, do drop us an email with photos and send them to us! Next week, we will be featuring her pirate themed 2nd Birthday! Till our next post! It's official, Dreams Avenue has launched! To celebrate, we are offering all first time customers a 10% off your purchase: Just us DAlaunch2013 as your coupon code upon checkout!
We hope for your support and look forward to your feedback! Hi everyone! First of all... Happy Friday!! After the long weekend, didn't it feel like the weekend was so far away? Boy, am I glad Friday is here again and I am sure many of you are as happy as I am! If you are into Pinterest, you may have noticed a few pins that have tried to put together modern outfits to achieve the modern Disney Princess look. If you are not sure what I mean, take a look here: Inspired by many of such pins, I have decided to put together modern fantasy outfits for kids, to achieve the look of various fantasy, fairytale and Disney characters. Now this is an exciting project! Hence, Happy Fridays + Princess Outfits = Fantasy Fridays! I will certainly try to showcase 1 character every Fantasy Friday and will also accept requests for characters! Which character are we 'creating' today, then? How about one of my personal favourite princesses for a start? I remember it was the first Disney cartoon I watched with my parents in the movies back in 1989. "The Little Mermaid" - Ariel! The set above is created using Polyvore, a great site to mix and match clothes and accessories and save them for ideas and sharing! All items shown above are not from the Dreams Avenue site. Not to worry! Next Fantasy Friday, besides featuring a new character on CHIC KIDS, we will also launch a new Lookbook based on Ariel with our own stock items. If your little girl is a princess at heart, why not have some fun and put together outfits based on this purple, red, mint / sea green colour scheme? If your boys are adventurous with outfits, why not put together an outfit with some pops of colour as above? Do look out for that lookbook for more ideas too! Here's a casual outfit for mamas just for fun: I had lots of fun creating these outfits, and I hope you had fun reading the post and looking at the sets!
Have a lovely weekend! Hello everyone! We've been busy putting the final touches to our online store and the good news is that it will be launched this week! Thanks to the long weekend that just past, I had time to rush important work for the site, rest (oh so needed!), spend quality time with my little girl Naomi (awesome!) who was so excited about National Day and Eid Mubarak celebrations they had in school. We watched the parade live on TV at my grandma's, and Naomi was dancing and humming along to the tunes she was familiar with. The parents also brought her out to the zoo, bird park and the Gardens by the Bay. What an eventful weekend, especially for the little one! Although belated, I wish all my Muslim friends and readers a wonderful Eid Mubarak, and all Singaporeans a Happy National Day! I am sure many of you have taken photos of your little ones during the holidays, dressed in their ethnic costumes and national colours red and white! Here's a picture of Naomi who was all dressed up for her party in school: I do love to dress her up whenever I have a chance - and she's a trooper to let this mummy have her way, well most of the time! She loves to dress up, and the costume usually stays on the whole day - which according to teachers at school, is admirable for a child her age! Will post up more of her costume dress up pics another day!
While some people may think that dressing up in red and white on National Day may seem tacky, but I think it adds on the festive atmosphere, and it is not neccessarily tacky looking when done right! Especially for our little ones, I personally think they make everything look good! It's been some time since we last updated, and it's all due to our hectic preparations to launch the site as soon as possible! Here's a sneak preview of the site... we hope you will like it and anticipate its launch as much as we do! We are currently adding the final touches and our lovely products are also being uploaded. Please go take a look when we launch! Do give us your feedback! :)
As I mentioned in my first post, Chic Kids is an official blog for an upcoming online store for kids apparel, Dreams Avenue. Dreams Avenue will be launched soon! Showcasing a Lookbook feature to help mums put together trendy, lovely outfits for their young ones, we aim to provide comfortable and stylish clothing for kids from New Born to 12 years. Watch this space for more updates on when our site goes live!
Look out for contests that we will be holding in celebration of our launch ;) |
