It's Party Stylin' Thursday! This week, I will be featuring my daughter's 2nd Birthday Party held last year to share my photos and DIY ideas.
I chose a relatively boyish theme last year as I believe when my daughter is older, she has all the chances to choose girlier themes like the usual Princess, pink, Hello Kitty etc type themes if she wanted those. Disney Junior, her favourite TV channel at the time, introduced a new series called "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" which she loved very much, and thus the theme was chosen.
As I searched for ideas and inspiration online for Pirate themed parties, most of them were all focused on the Black, Red colour palette and I wasn't too fond of that, although I loved so many of the ideas these parties offered. For example, one of my favourite Pirate party inspiration at that time was a Captain Hook Pirate Party and the details from the decor to the games were just awe-inspiring. Like the little Bounty bags with gold chocolate coins to the Walk the Plank games. Another Pirate party that inspired Naomi's 2nd Birthday was this one where they named all the food after pirate-y stuff like "Sea Water" for mineral water and "Cannon Balls" for cheese balls. But these were all black and red. There were some (like this) who used pink instead of red for a girly touch, but I wanted something different. After consideration, I chose blue as the main colour, focusing on the nautical aspect of the Pirates instead. Once I decided that, I started to plan on what I could DIY and what I could not.
Why DIY? Firstly, because I enjoy it. Secondly, to save money. Thirdly, to make the party more unique so hopefully both the big and little guests would enjoy the tiny details. Here are some pics:
Unfortunately, I did not take photos of the favours I gave the little guests (treasure boxes with candies, stickers and little toys), and of the games I planned (i.e. pin the flag on the X of treasure map) which did not really pan out. But I hope you like what you see above! Please feel free to use any ideas you like above for your own pirate party if you do plan one too!
Should you have a themed party for your kids that you want to share with us, please do drop me an email with photos and I will be happy to share them on this blog!
Next week, I will share more on what I plan for her upcoming birthday this year!
Till our next post! ;)
